John F. Thompson, 73, of Bear, DE, passed away May 8, 2015 at Heartland Hospice House in Pike Creek.
Born on February 28, 1942, John was the son of the late William and Marie Ryan Thompson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. He worked in customer sales for Trugreen in Delaware and was a restaurant manager for Marriott Corporation in Maryland. He was a devoted husband to his late wife Janet for 53 years and family was always their number one priority. He was an avid reader, gardener, and enjoyed boating on the Chesapeake Bay and travelling out west with his wife.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his son, John F. Thompson II of Bear; two daughters, Susan Hess and her husband Vincent of Wilmington, and Pamela Workman and her husband Douglas of Fallston, MD; a brother, Bob Kellet of Punta Gorda, FL; 3 sisters, Sandra Cleaver of Weston, CO, Barbara Billbrough of Ridley Park, PA, and Joan DiAmbrosia of Holmes, PA; 4 grandchildren, Vincent and Nicholas Hess and Bethany and Morgan Workman, and a great granddaughter, Hailey Hess.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 345 Bear-Christiana Road Bear, DE 19701 on Thursday May 14, 2015 at 12 noon with a visitation at the church beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice and mailed to R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main St., Newark, DE 19711.
