Dave (John David Phillips), of New Castle, DE, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2020, at the age of 38. He was born in Wilmington, DE on November 7, 1981 to the late John Edward Phillips and Cathy Lucille (Boyce) Phillips.

Although many thought of Dave as quiet, those close to him knew Dave as a smart, funny, sometimes sarcastic, and deeply loving person. Dave was passionate about photography, even publishing a photo in the Delaware Photographic Society’s Reflector Magazine. This passion lead him to transition from being a software test engineer to opening his own photography business, “J. David Phillips Photography”, where he captured nature scenes, weddings, and family photo shoots. He was also a proud Eagle Scout. During his free time, he enjoyed hiking, camping, cooking, and building up his amazing vegetable garden. Most of all, he loved to spend his time with Jess, Justin, and Riley whom he loved very much. Dave will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Dave is survived by his significant other: Jessica Force; step-children: Justin and Riley Force; brother: Brian Phillips; sister: Rebecca Kriss; and grandparents: Olen and Sandy Boyce.

A Celebration of Dave’s life will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 1:30 PM at R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc., 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711. Family and friends may attend the visitation beginning at 12:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the “National Park Foundation” and sent in care of the funeral home.
