Joanne defines the word "resilient." Although she has gone through so much, she never gave up and never lost her positive outlook. She struggled mightily but never quit. I so admire her for these, and other qualities, and it was a real privilege to know her. My most special memory is the time I was able to bring communion to her at her home. Ralph was always so attentive to make sure all her needs were met and he asked me to come (as I was his Chaplain at work). It was a real joy to share that time with them. Rest now in God's perfect peace Joanne.

Joanne and I put on a good fright against this cancer. It surprised us 4 years ago and the diagnosis was very poor. But we beat the odds and had almost 4 years more time together.

Much of it was at hospitals during various treatments, but we made the best of it staying in hotels in Balitmore and enjoying some nice dinners together.

We had some fun as well in wonderful hotels in Baltimore and Washington DC going to favorite restaurants. Since she could not walk very far we just went to local places below the hotels and still had lots of good times together. It was as close to our prior travels to Europe and Canada we could do because of her illness. We had to stay close for her bi monthly chemo infusion treatments, I believe it was 40 in all. Than the COVID hit and we lost a year of seeing family and doing these mini vacations which made us sad. I did everything possible to keep use safe during this stressful time fixing up the property so she could enjoy some time outside by the pool and gardens.

Losing her was a shock to me, I felt she could get better and prompted her to do her best and keep fighting this sickness.

But it was too much for her frail body and it was time to bring her home and let her go peacefully in her own home and her own bed surrounded by friends and family and pets and me holding her hand and soothing her best I could.

Its painful to loose her but she is no longer in pain and we can both rest now.
