Joanne B. Daly

Joanne Brauer Daly of West Grove, PA, age 89, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021. She was born in Chester, PA on February 9, 1932 to the late Claude Herman Brauer and Marian Catherine (Price) Brauer.

Joanne earned a Bachelor’s Degree from West Chester State College and went on to earn 30 graduate degree credits from Temple University and the University of Delaware. In her long and varied career, she worked as a Health and Physical Education Teacher as well as field hockey and tennis coach at Chester High School and Brandywine High School for a total of 36 years. Joanne also worked in Beef Cattle Operations for 43 years and ran a boarding kennel for 25 years.

Joanne was President of the Genealogical Society of Cecil County for 15 years, Volunteer for the Historical Society of Cecil County for 25 years, and Chairperson of the 125th Restoration Committee of St. Teresa’s Church, Port Deposit MD, where she was also Sacristan and Eucharistic Minister. After her retirement, Joanne filled her days at Jenner’s Pond as Co-Chair Arts & Crafts Festival 2008-2011, member of the Hospitality Committee, member of the Birding Club and Camera Club, Bingo Caller and President of the Benevolent Care Fund Committee (2013-2015). She was also the very successful Manager of Heron’s Nest Gift Shop for 10 years. A caring and generous woman, she will be dearly missed by those that knew her.

Joanne is survived by her brother, Jay Henry Brauer, and by her nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert F Daly and brother, Claude Brauer.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
