Joan Rae Macleod, age 83, of Elkton, MD passed away peacefully on Monday, July 2, 2018. Born September 20, 1934 in South Portland, Maine, Joan was the daughter of the late Clayton Owen Farrar and the late Margaret Lyon (Wescott) Farrar.
Joan worked as a secretary for Moran Shipping at the Waterfront in Portland, ME. She was known to be an early riser and a coffee-holic; she particularly enjoyed her coffee brewed with a percolator on the stove. She was an avid baseball fan who supported both the Portland Sea Dogs and the Red Sox. Joan moved to Elkton, MD in 2004 after her first grandchild, Rory, was born in 2003.
Joan is survived by her son, Galen Hopkins and their special friend Julie of Elkton, MD; son, Mark Hopkins of Old Orchard Beach, ME; brother, Clayton Farrar of South Portland, ME; niece, Debbie Turner of KS and two nephews: Gary and Dave Stover both of KS. She is also survived by two grandchildren that she deeply cared for, Rory and Brayden, and numerous friends and family of the greater Portland area in ME. Including her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her sister, Jackie Stover.
Services for Joan will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
