Janice Elaine Thomas

December 28, 1937 - August 29, 2024

Janice worked for many years in Health Care as a Registered Nurse. Her passion and dedication to nursing went beyond her professional life, she would volunteer her time to help people with medical needs. In addition to her love for taking care of others, Janice was a member of the Caribou United Baptist Church from 1958 to 2001, and later became a member of the Sarasota Baptist Church from 2001 to 2019. Janice found comfort in her faith and was involved in church activities, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Her nurturing spirit will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Janice is survived by her children: Nancy Yandell, Richard C. Thomas, II (partner, Terry), and Paul Thomas (wife, Valerie); grandchildren: Stephanie Ware (Brandon), Holly Bradshaw, Nicholas Yandell, Angelica Thomas, Justin Thomas (Rachel), and Jared Thomas; great grandchild, Corbin Ware.

Janice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Thomas, I; her parents; adopted parents: Howard and Evelyn Harris; grandson, Jordan Matthew Thomas; and many siblings.

The funeral service for Janice will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made payable to the charity of your choice and sent in care of the R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 E. Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921.

Nancy Rick and Paul,, Really saddened to hear of the passing of your mom, she was a sweet lady and I always remember her smile . She’s lived a full life , one with many twists and turns and I remember how she cared for your dad when he was so sick. She was fun loving and wasn’t afraid to pitch right in and help… those days on the farm( dale holmes funny farm) I remember her plucking chickens,, oh the funny times we shared with your mom and her family will always be cherish ed. God has taken her home and may the words welcome home my good and faithful servant be a reminder of the Godly woman she was. Our prayers are with you all during this time of bereavement!!!

Jan was a special friend and we enjoyed being a part of her life. Her laugh, her Bible knowledge, her love for all of us and mostly her love for Jesus will never be forgotten. She touched our lives.
