James “Jim” Joseph DeGregory, Jr., age 91, of Rising Sun, MD passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. Born on October 8, 1934, in Wilmington, DE, Jim was the loving son of the late Vincenzo D. DiGregorio, Sr., and the late Catherine (Eysaldt) Durbano.
Jim was the kind of person people recognized the moment he walked in the door. With a spark of mischief and a reputation as a bit of an instigator, he loved to cause a little trouble, but always with a smile. Beneath that playful exterior was an incredibly hardworking man. Jim dedicated many years working for A&P SuperFresh, where he became known for his strong work ethic. He took pride in doing a job well and expected the same level of dedication from those around him.
At home, Jim could often be found puttering in the yard, and tending to his flower beds. Jim was fortunate to have the care of special people in his life, especially his cook, Jerry, and his neighbor, Sandy, who looked after him, and were very supportive. Above all, Jim was loved by all who knew him.
Jim is survived by his children: Linda Wissler (husband, Bob), and James J DeGregory, III (wife, Tanya); close friend, Becky Conner; grandchildren: Jeanine, Ashley, Vincenzo, Adrian, and Carlie; many great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Farrow; sons: Christopher DeGregory, and Karl DeGregory; brothers: Anthony DeGregory, and Robert DeGregory; granddaughter: Elizabeth aka “Little Bit”; and grandson, Andrew.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, 11:00 am at the Cathedral Cemetery, 2400 Lancaster Ave, Wilmington, DE. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “St. Jude Children’s Hospital” and sent in care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., PO Box 248, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
