James Clayton McGarvey, age 73, of Port Deposit, MD passed away on May 18, 2016. Born on August 26, 1942 in Kittanning, PA to the late, Alexander Clayton McGarvey and Roseanne (Bowser) McGarvey.

James taught in both Cecil and Kent County Public Schools. He also coached football in Rising Sun, MD.

James is survived by his wife, Sara (Sally) McGarvey; son, Eric McGarvey and wife, Michelle of Doylestown, PA; step-son, Steven Brown and wife, Allyson of Aiken, SC; four grandchildren: Duncan McGarvey, Sophie McGarvey, Jules Brown, and Brianna Brown; and brother, Michael McGarvey and his wife, Pat of Grovetown, GA.

A Celebration of James’ Life will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 2:00PM at West Nottingham Presbyterian Church, 1195 Firetower Road, Colora, MD 21917. A visitation will begin at 1:00PM at the church where family and friends are encouraged to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution checks can be made to “Rising Sun Library”, and sent care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 South Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
