Irene Martha Mellinger of Elkton, MD, age 89, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2020. Irene was born on July 16, 1931 in Crumpler, North Carolina to the late Walter J. Taylor and Mollie D. (Jones) Taylor.
Irene grew up a farm girl and loved animals, especially horses and her dogs. She was a hard worker, had a very strong work ethic and spent her career working at Chrysler Corp. and in a sewing factory. Irene will be lovingly remembered as a giving and loving person.
Irene is survived by her daughter, Mollie “Cookie” Groseclose (Carl); son, Franklin Lee Kilby (Sandra); 2 grandchildren: Mollie Irene Kilby (John), Chris William Burton; 3 great grandchildren: John Andrew Kilby, Sarah Irene Kilby, Tyler William Burton; 2 sisters: Dorothy Eikner, Mary Ann “Dolly” Jackson. In addition to her parents, Irene is preceded in death by her life long companion, Milford Hensen, Jr.; four sisters and four brothers.
Services for Irene will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to “SPCA” and sent in care of the funeral home.
