Hildegard D. Bell of Rising Sun, Maryland passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 15, 2018, she was 87. Born in Rochester, NY on June 4, 1931, she was the daughter of Friedrick G. and Sophie A. (Ortlepp) Giesemann.
Hilda attended William Penn High School and Delaware Technical Community College. She spent time working at the News Journal paper in Wilmington, DE, Delaware Park and at Elkton Carpet in Elkton, MD.
Hilda and Clyde were married on June 10, 1950 in Wilmington, DE. Hilda and Clyde loved farming, a fondness which they passed down to all of their children. Hilda was a true animal lover, and especially loved cats and hummingbirds. She was a great cook who was proud of her German roots and enjoyed sharing her traditional German dishes with her friends and family. Hilda loved spending time with her family and hosted many memorable family dinners and reunions. She was a talented artist who created beautiful works of art painting porcelain ornaments, plates, vases and dolls. Hilda was an avid quilter and spent many happy hours quilting with her friends at the Aiken Homemakers club. She blessed her friends and family with many beautiful gifts which she lovingly made and will be forever treasured.
Hilda is survived by loving family: daughter, Dorothy Byrne and her husband, Dennis of Nottingham, PA; three sons: Clyde Bell, Jr. of Bear, DE, Richard Bell and his wife, Tina of Rising Sun, MD, and David Bell and his wife, Tiffany of Nottingham, PA; as well as her grandchildren: Rebecca Byrne Yohe, Adam Byrne, Rich Bell, Sharon Byrne Meyer, Daniel Bell, Kaitlin Bell and David Bell; and 6 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Bell and brother, Fredrick Giesemann.
Hilda’s family would like to express their gratefulness to the caregivers at Calver Manor who lovingly cared for Hilda during her time there, as well as Seasons Hospice.
A celebration of Hilda’s life will be held at 12pm on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911, where friends and family may begin visiting at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Hilda’s honor may be made payable to the “Alzheimer’s Foundation” or “Camp Possibilities” and send in care of the funeral home, PO Box 248, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
