Herbert Franklin Richardson, age 90, of Middletown, Delaware, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023. He was born at home in Grayson, North Carolina on June 27, 1932, to the late John and Lockie (Miller) Richardson.

Herbert was known as a talented craftsman who loved woodworking. Before and even after his retirement from Chrysler, he would build furniture and decks. Herbert adored his family farm in North Carolina where he grew up tending to crops and livestock.  He also raised cattle after his retirement. He will be remembered for loving his family and friends, watching old movies, and supporting NASCAR.

Herbert is preceded by his wife, Stella (Black) Richardson, whom he married in 1956, a loving companion, Helen Coldiron, of 25 years, daughter-in-law, Cindee Richardson, and seven siblings.

He is survived by his two sons; Randy Richardson and Danny (Mariann) Richardson; four grandchildren: Jeremy (Samantha) Richardson, Randee (Neil) Cresto, Nicholas Bundy, and Joseph (Ali) Bundy; two great-grandchildren: Rowan Bundy and Bennett Bundy; and his sister, Shelby Mabe.

A celebration of Herbert’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at 11:00 am at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921, where family and friends may begin visiting at 10:00 am. A burial will follow at Gilpin Manor Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “St. Jude Children’s Hospital” or “Wounded Warriors” and sent in care of R.T.
