Helen Louise Mash, 87, of Elkton, MD passed away peacefully on Monday, March 5, 2018. She was born on October 4, 1930 in Webster Springs, WV to the late Eli Jackson Gregory and Luverna Eve (Dodrill) Gregory.
Helen moved to Cecil County in the 1950’s and worked for Plasticoid Co. for many years where she met her future husband, David Mash, Jr. After they married and her children were born, Helen devoted her life to them – her children were always her greatest joy. Helen was a member of the First Baptist Church of North East for over 40 years. She had an affinity for children, military veterans, and animals and was a charitable supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Disabled American Veterans, and the Humane Society. Helen had a knack for baking, and enjoyed making cakes for family and friends, and anyone she thought needed cheering up. She loved nature and enjoyed flowers and bird watching. Her selfless, unconditional love and care for her family will be her greatest legacy.
Helen is survived by her son, David Mash of Elkton, MD; her daughter, Ruth Pusey and her husband, Jack of Salisbury, MD; two sisters, Ruth Bowman of Elkton, MD and Rosa Lee Hamrick of Elyria, OH; and a special niece, Jo Ann Lee and her husband Frank of East Liberty, OH. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, David E. Mash, Jr; and two brothers: Emery Gregory and Virgil Gregory.
