Harold Eugene Gotschall, Sr. “Gene”, age 80 of Newark, DE passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017. He was born on November 7, 1936 in Dexter, Ohio to the late, Harold A. Gotschall and Betty (Miller) Mendenhall.
Gene worked in construction excavation as a machine operator running backhoes and excavators. In his spare time, he collected die cast metal cars, and enjoyed watching WWE Wrestling on the television. He enjoyed visits with his friends and family who would often drop in to visit, and as they would depart, he would send them off with his usual “Thanks for stopping”.
Gene is survived by his daughter, Susan Foote and her husband, Mark of Newark, DE; sons: Harold E. Gotschall, Jr. and his wife, Kimberly, of Newark, DE and Bobby Lloyd Gotschall and his wife, Patty of Nottingham, PA; seven grandchildren, Andy, Jake, Luke, Sarah, Becky, Cody and Corey; sister, Sharon Mendenhall of Peach Bottom, PA; step father, Horace Mendenhall of Peach Bottom, PA, and sister-in-law, Margie Horn, of Rising Sun, MD.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Joyce Gotschall and sister, Geraldine Garrison.
A Celebration of Gene’s life will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at R. T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, Inc., 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711. Friends and family may visit one hour prior beginning at 10AM. Burial will follow at Oxford Cemetery, 220 N. 3rd Street, Oxford, PA 19363. To send an online condolence, please visit, www.rtfoard.com.
