Gerhard “Jerry” Hahn of Newark, DE, age 80, passed away on November 2, 2021. Jerry was born on June 4, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Gerhardt Hahn and Josephine (Bruene) Hahn.
Jerry served in the Air Force for 6 years during the Vietnam conflict. He graduated from Goldey Beacom College and went on to become a chief boiler technician in the Christina School District and retired from there after 30 years. Jerry had invented the Varmint Shield and held the patent for 20 years. He enjoyed gardening and loved to bowl and belonged to many leagues including Brookside and Pleasant Hill.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Rhonaldia “Ronnie” (Luedtke) Hahn; son, Steven Hahn and his wife, Elizabeth of Evans, GA; daughter, Sandra Cole and her husband, David of Bear, DE; 5 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; sister, Hilda Kastansis of Stone Ridge, NY; brother-in-law, James Baker, Sr. and his wife, Jeanne of Kingston, NY; 6 nieces and nephews and 6 great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Friday, November 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Roman Catholic Church, 200 E. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711, where family and friends may start visiting at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to “St. John Holy Angels” and sent in care of R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711.
