Flora (Betty) Elizabeth Reader (89) of Elkton, MD passed away on March 7^th, 2023.  She was born on February 14^th, 1934 in Glasgow, DE.  She was the daughter of the late Charles and Ida Laws.

Betty was raised and worked on her family’s dairy farm until her graduation from Middletown High School in 1953.  She was employed briefly by Thiokol where she met and married the love of her life Herbert Reader, Sr. Herb and Betty were married for 50 years. For 69 years Betty enjoyed living the simple life on their farm in Elkton.  Betty loved taking care of the animals and preparing Sunday dinners to feed anyone that stopped by the farm.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Reader, Sr., parents; brothers: Charles and Donald Laws; sisters: Mary Keeley and Helen Potts.  She is survived by her sisters:  Alice McCommons and Judy Hutchins; many nieces, nephews and friends.

A visitation will be held on Monday, March 13, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at R. T. Foard Funeral Home 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD.  A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, 11:00 AM at the funeral home, with a one-hour visitation prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the American Cancer Society or the Cecil County SPCA.
