Duane D. Werb, Esquire, born October 24, 1950, in Newark, New Jersey, passed away on March 21, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Gloria Werb and his sister Cynthia Sechrist.
Duane is survived by his devoted wife of 31 years, Sue A. Werb, his children Allison Horgan (Mark) Lindsay Miller (Adam), Jennifer Wahl (Hugh), Rebecca Petka (Joey), and Peter J. Good, III (Alexis). He was a proud and loving grandfather to 12 grandchildren, Delaney, James and Colin Horgan; Owen, Nathan and Caleb Miller; Cadence and Lydia Wahl; Jojo, Cody and Zach Petka; and Peter J. Good, IV. He is also survived by his sister Leslie Reyes and brothers, Dean, Drew and Dade Werb, as well as many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews, all of whom will deeply miss him.
Duane graduated from the Charter Class at Wilmington University in 1972 and received his Juris Doctor from Delaware Law School in 1978. Duane practiced law in Delaware for nearly 48 years and to date was Managing Partner of Werb & Sullivan which focused on commercial bankruptcy, business litigation, and real estate transactions. He was widely respected for his expertise and professionalism, often serving as co-counsel to out-of-state Attorneys seeking his deep knowledge of Delaware law. Earlier in his career, he served the State of Delaware, as a Deputy Attorney General and later as Chief Public Defender for Kent County. He also shared his knowledge with future generations as an adjunct professor of law at Delaware Law School for 15 years.
Beyond his professional achievements, Duane will be remembered most for his dedication to his family, his generosity, strong work ethic, love of history, Turner Classic Movies, Frank Sinatra and the lasting impact he had on those who knew him. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched both personally and professionally.
