Douglas J. Geary (67) of Elkton, MD passed away surrounded by family on November 1, 2022. Born on June 6, 1955 in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late Paul and Jeannette (nee, Sharpley) Geary and the devoted husband of Patti Geary (nee, Chapman).
Doug was a Design Engineer at W. L. Gore and had just recently retired after 47 years.
Doug was an avid sports enthusiast. Athlete, Coach and Fan. He was a proud member of two Championship Teams: “The Dawgs” New Castle County Flag Football League Champs and the W. L. Gore Championship Volley Ball Team, “Holy Cow”. Throughout the years he coached numerous Youth League teams. Off the field, he was a die-hard Eagles Fan.
Doug enjoyed relaxing at the family cottage on the Elk River and taking fishing trips to Vermont. He was also a talented artisan and created highly cherished Stained-Glass artwork for family and friends. He will be fondly remembered for his love of music, great sense of humor, and most of all for his love and dedication to family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Doug is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Patti Geary; three children: Michael (Kirsten) Geary, Christopher Geary, Leigh Geary; grandson, Camden Geary and sister, Paula Castelline.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Doug on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the Elkton Presbyterian Church – 209 E. Main Street, Elkton, MD. Casual attire, Phillies/ Eagles preferred.
