Doris Mae (nee, Hart) Schneider Burbage, age 92, of Newark, Delaware, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025. Born at home on July 19, 1932, in Lewisville, Pennsylvania, Doris was the beloved daughter of the late Frank Leon Hart and Catherine Mae (née Galloway) Hart and sibling to Ralph Veron Hart, Leon Frank Hart, Betty Kelly (Hart), Robert Hart, William Hart, Ronald Hart, and Kathleen Comb (Hart)
Doris was a proud graduate of Calvert High School and later earned her degree from Salisbury College. In her early years, Doris was an avid softball player and excellent pitcher. She continued her love of sports through baseball and was a true Philadelphia Phillies fan, watching the games whenever she was able. She also loved to travel, she went to many of the States, including Alaska and Hawaii.
Her careers reflected her deep compassion and unwavering dedication to others, She worked for many years at Astra Zeneca (Newark) and retired in 1997. After retiring, she spent her time working as a private home caretaker, offering comfort, dignity, and attentive care to her clients, many of whom became her friends
Her life was centered on caring for those she loved most. She was known for her kindness, quiet strength, and the deep sense of love and stability she provided. Her presence was a source of comfort, and her absence will be felt profoundly.
Doris was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Schneider, and her second husband, William (Bill)Burbage. She was also predeceased by her children, Jeffrey Schneider, William G. Burbage, and Jeanine Faust, and her grandson John Phillip Paul Schneider.
She is survived by her sons, Steven Schneider and John Schneider; her grandchildren, Donald Schneider, Melisa Schneider, Kathryn Faust Crawford, Carrie Faust, and Eric Craft, and her caretaker and friend Jean Marie Smith (Gina); and many extended family members and friends who will remember her with enduring affection.
A service to celebrate Doris’s life will be held on Friday , July 18th at 6:00PM at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main Street, Newark, Delaware. Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories beginning at 4:30 PM. Burial will be held at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Monday, July 21, 2025 at 10:00 AM.
