Doris Lillian Orr

Doris Lillian Orr of Rising Sun, MD, age 82, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022. She was born in East Stroudsburg, PA on March 5, 1939 to the late Joseph Shea and Verna Margaret Mulveny.

For the past 62 years Doris was a farmer, working beside her late husband Fred James Orr. Prior to that, Doris worked as a chemist for the Thiokol Corporation. Doris was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Maryland Chapter 27 in Havre de Grace, MD. She was also a member of the West Nottingham Presbyterian Church in Colora, MD, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She earned a paralegal degree from the University of Maryland and taught as a substitute teacher for Cecil County Public Schools. Doris also liked to play the piano, was an avid reader and a great cook.

Doris is survived by her two sons: Joe Orr and his wife, Britt and Fred Orr and his wife, Autumn; grandson, Benjamin Orr and his wife, Barbara; five great-grandchildren; brother, Joe Shea, and sister, Nancy Johnson. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fred James Orr.

Services for Doris will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
