Doris “Dodi” B. Asti, age 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 15, 2025. She was born on December 3, 1932, in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Milton G. Bell, and Nellie Maude (Gotchell) Bell.
Dodi was a remarkable woman whose life was a beacon of love and generosity. Dodi devoted over 30 years of her life to being a foster parent, opening her heart and home to countless children who needed care, guidance, and support. She expanded her involvement by becoming a member of both the Foster Care Review Board and the foster parent training team. Dodi was passionate about sharing her knowledge and skills with others. She dedicated time to teaching sewing through the 4H program, inspiring young minds to embrace creativity and craftsmanship. Dodi enjoyed dressing up in her whimsical costume to become “The Witch,” delighting the students at Cecil Manor Elementary School. Some of those students still recall being scared by her convincing cackles.
Dodi’s life was devoted to children. She believed in the potential of every child and worked tirelessly to create a nurturing environment where they could flourish. Her spirit will live on in the countless lives she transformed and the memories she created with each child she lovingly cared for. Dodi, you will be deeply missed.
