Donna Rae (Paxton) Woodis, 61, of Elkton, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025. Born in Elkton on November 30, 1963, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Gertrude (Blankenship) Paxton.
Donna devoted more than 30 years to nursing, serving at Christiana Union Hospital and a local nursing home. A natural caregiver, she touched countless lives in her community with her compassion, honesty, and steady presence. Donna was known for her straightforward nature—she would tell you exactly what she thought and then say a prayer for you afterward. She was a faithful member of North East Church of God.
She enjoyed day trips to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where she loved browsing Amish arts and crafts, and she had recently taken up knitting. Donna was rarely seen without her Sweet Tea or Pepsi in hand. She loved her chihuahuas, especially Buddha. More than anything, she cherished her family. Donna will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jeannie Workman.
Donna is survived by her daughter, Corren Johnson; grandchildren, Darnell Coursey and Donte Wesley; and the children she loved as grandchildren: Mike Jones, Dah’mear Triplett, Allegra Stevens, and Jesse Figgs. She is also survived by her siblings, Douglas Paxton, Sr. and his wife Markita, and Ellen Rogers and her husband Carroll, along with many extended family members.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 24, 2025, at R. T. Foard Funeral Home, 259 East Main Street, Elkton, Maryland. Family and friends may begin visiting at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Gilpin Manor Cemetery.
