Donna G. Swan, age 58, of Landenberg, PA passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Jennersville Hospital.
Donna was born in Detroit Michigan on January 12, 1954 to the late Joel H. Duncan and Lois (Burke) Crow. After graduating from Newark High School she worked her way through college at Bing’s Bakery and graduated with an accounting degree from the University of Delaware. She gave up her career to raise her family and her children were the center of the life. Her children remember her love of baking and decorating gingerbread houses and fancy birthday cakes. She loved taking care of the house and was always painting, mowing and organizing. Her greatest joy in the last few years was her granddaughter, Cara.
Donna was an avid athlete who enjoyed racquetball, biking, running, swimming and softball games. In 1986 she was the Delaware State Racquetball Champion.
She also loved family trips to the cabin in Maine and taking her children on rows around the lake. Donna was an excellent card player and especially enjoyed Bridge and Pinochle.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas K. Swan of Landenberg, PA; sons, Brad Swan and his wife Lisa of Abingdon, MD and Greg Swan of Philadelphia, PA; daughter, Crystal A. Swan of Philadelphia, PA; sisters, Rebecca Scott of Birmingham, AL and Patricia Coulson of Boca Raton, Fl and granddaughter, Cara Swan.
She joins her daughter Jennifer Lea and her parents who preceded her in death.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at R.T. Foard and Jones, Inc., 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE where friends may call one hour prior. Burial will follow at Sharps Cemetery in Elkton, MD.
