Donald James Jester, Sr., age 91, of Nottingham, PA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. He was born on April 24, 1933, in Chester, PA. Donald was the son of William Jester, and Clara (Ellis) Jester.
Donald was a proud United States Army veteran, serving in the Koren War as a paratrooper. Upon returning from his military service, Donald pursued a career in transportation as a truck driver. He enjoyed traveling to California and Florida, spending time at local casinos, especially Delaware Park and Hollywood, and being out and about. Though Donald had many interests, he had a special fondness for playing bingo, working on cars, and going out to eat. Donald also enjoyed the simple pleasure of watching cowboy shows, particularly those starring his favorite actor, John Wayne.
Donald was a member of the Red Men’s Club in Oxford, PA, where he forged meaningful connections with his fellow members. He will be deeply missed, by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Donald is survived by his children, Donald J. Jester, Jr., Pauline Kristman (husband, David), Mary Waterfield, Debra Sell, and step daughters: Debbie Field (husband, Jim), and Margie Shoemaker; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Donald is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Jester; sisters: Dorothy Jester, Eloise Cacciatore, Pauline Day, Evelyn Christopher, Mary Scott, and Ruth Snyder; brothers: Owen “Pete” Jester, William Jester, Jr., and step son, Paul Jones.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Mt. Zion Cemetery, 1400 Springfield Road, Darby, PA 19023 where family and friends are welcome to join.
