Deborah Jean Youngblood, age 68 of Elkton, MD passed away on April 10, 2016. She was born on August 02, 1947 in Brooklyn, NY to the late, Fred and Mary (Francis) Turner.
In 1991, Deborah obtained her masters degree from New York University. As our Nani, she always instilled the value of education in us; she herself was a great teacher. She taught us the value of family, the importance of laughter, and strength to stick together. Nani had a vibrant spirit and enjoyed music; especially doo whop. She enjoyed travelling and cruises; her favorite place to visit was Hawaii with her sister Susan and her Aunt Jean.
Deborah is survived by her daughter, Sonja Smith and her , son-in-law Brian Smith of Elkton, MD; brother, Ronald Youngblood and his wife Deborah of Bear, DE; sister, Susan Thomas of Elkton, MD; three grandchildren: Niza Porter-Smith and her husband, Nicholas, Dina Smith and her life partner Michael, and Raja Rojas and her husband Antonio; seven great-grandchildren: Deborah, Ezryn, Devinne, Dizra, Samuel, Deziree, and Dalia; and aunt, Jean Francis of Tulsa, OK. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of Deborah’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 11:00 AM at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A. 259 E. Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM. After the service, family and friends are welcome to leave in procession to the crematory at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
