David “Dave” Patrick McKeever

October 13, 1956 - January 3, 2025

Dave was a loving father, very fun husband, devoted nurse anesthetist, talented athlete, and cherished friend. Dave dedicated over 30 years of his life to the noble profession of nursing, as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). Dave was an avid golfer, posting over 100 rounds of golf per season, while working 50-60 hours per week at his dream job. Great short game! He was a passionate distance runner, having completed eleven marathons. In addition to his love for running and golfing, Dave was a thrill-seeker, paddling white water rapids on the rivers of Western Pennsylvania, New York, West Virginia, Virginia, the Carolinas and Georgia in an open canoe.

Dave was a loving husband, father, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. This guy was a riot!

Dave is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Ann-Marie Lawrence McKeever, his children: Christopher McKeever and Courtney (McKeever) Sowden and step-children: Patrick Piculell, Bridget De la Carrera, and Katherine Piculell.

A future service for Dave will be fun, held privately at the convenience of the family, and open to those who knew and loved him. Stay tuned.

I was just thinking about Dave the other day and now I'm shocked to learn he's left us. We were good friends in grade school at IHM and then lost touch for a number of years before reconnecting again after college. I blame myself for getting him interested in running because I'd never be able to beat him in a road race ever again!! :) Dave had a pragmatic attitude, a quick wit/sense of humor, and a very infectious laugh. He'll be sorely missed. My sympathies to Ann Marie and family.

So sorry for your loss Ann Marie and family. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with him, play golf and watch him play guitar. He was full of life and lived it to the fullest. Peace my friend.

Condolences from Newark Morning Rotary Club. We knew Dave through Ann Marie. What a wonderful couple to grace our path.

Dave was an inspiration to me. His work in anesthesia was complex and gratifying, and his life after work was exemplary. He was, as they say in Ireland, a "solid" man. I shall miss my friend.

To Anne Marie and the family, Leslie and I are so VERY sorry for your loss. I have not seen Dave in years, and was unaware that he was ailing. That having been said, the man made an huge and positive impression when you met him, and smile cannot help but form at the very thought of time spent with him. He was the very definition of "Hail fellow and well met". Dave McKeever was comet who streaked through the lives of all who knew him I'm sure; bright and spectacular and always something to behold. (And AM, he shined quite a bit brighter after you entered his life.)

I am glad to have known Dave and especially glad to have made music with him. He was a talented guitar player. His quick with and intelligence made our friendship all the more enjoyable. His infectious laugh still rings in my ears more than 20 years later. On-on, Dave. My sincere condolences to your family.

I graduated from anesthesia school with Dave and always enjoyed time with him. He was very funny and always happy! My husband Lee and I worked with him at Christiana for many years. We always agreed, he was the best of us. Our prayers are with his family at this time of incredible loss. No matter how long you have to prepare for the inevitable, it's always too soon.
