Daniel “Danny” Jerome Lane III

November 20, 1954 - April 4, 2021

Daniel “Danny” Jerome Lane III of Elkton, MD, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021 after a long illness. Danny was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Daniel Jerome Lane Jr. and Marijane (Williams) Wheatley and spent his childhood in Eastburn Acres.

Danny was proud to have achieved his Master Plumbing license and through the years worked for many local companies; starting at age 14 with R.R. McNutt. In addition, he worked for the forestry service in Colorado and the U.S. Naval Base in Key West, Florida. Danny loved nature, rock and roll and horse racing. He was a devoted Philadelphia sports fan whose dream came true with the Eagles Super Bowl win in 2018. He loved making jewelry that incorporated river rocks and using his many skills to renovate four homes with his wife. Danny lived a full and colorful life and friends and family love to gather and tell “Danny stories”.

Danny is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Lisa Hower; brothers: Frank (Laurie) Lane, Bill (Jackie) Lane; and sister Nancy Lane along with many loving nieces and nephews.

Services for Danny will be held privately with the immediate family. In lieu of flowers and a public service, spend time with your families and send up a toast to this wonderful man.

I JUST FOUND OUT TODAY , AFTER YEARS OF WONDERING, WHAT HAPPENED TO MY FRIEND. YOU CAN'T POSSIBLY PUT INTO WORDS WHAT DANNY MEANT TO EACH PERSON HE MET. I LIVED A LIFETIME OF ADVENTURES IN A COUPLE YEARS WITH MY GREAT FRIEND DANNY LANE. WE LIVED IN THE BRACK-EX COMMUNITY NEAR ELSMERE AS NEIGHBORS. WE BECAME INSEPERABLE FOR YEARS. I LOVE DANNY SO MUCH TO THIS DAY. HE WAS SMART,CREATIVE ,LOVED NATURE AND MUSIC. I HAVE MISSED HIM EVERY DAY . MY HEART GOES OUT TO FRANKIE ,LISA AND THE REST OF DANNY'S FAMILY. I WILL NEVER FORGET MY FRIEND!

I just heard of Danny's passing and am deeply sorry for your loss. Know that he was a very special person who will be missed. The adventures we had in Key West were the best anyone could ever imagine all due to his outgoing nature and vibrant personality. I will forever love him as a brother.

My condolences to the Lane family. I will always remember Danny from our years growing up in the "Acres". Also , memorable trips to the Preakness in the 80's. He's gone way too soon.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I grew up with Danny. Being 7 years younger, he was my first crush! I'll drink one to toast him for sure. My heart is with his whole family at such a sad time.
