Chester Raymond Burkins, Sr., 80, of Perry Point, MD passed away Monday, February 3, 2014.
Born September 25, 1933 in Dublin, MD, Chester was the son of the late Raymond and Olive (Deckman) Burkins. Chester enjoyed refinishing furniture and going for long walks.
Chester is survived by his sons, Chester “Buddy” Burkins, Jr. of North East, MD and Lester Burkins of Elkton, MD; daughters, Susan Burkins Necessary of Saltville, VA; Lisa Thacker of Elkton, MD, Gloria Veasey of Elkton, MD, Rose Brown of PA, and Melissa Sonnier of Elkton, MD. Chester was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Nancy (Love) Burkins; grandson, Alan Birney; and son-in-law, Chris Necessary.
A memorial service honoring Chester’s life will be held at 2pm Friday, February 7, 2014 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921, where family and friends may visit beginning at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the American Cancer Society and sent in care to the funeral home.
