Charles W. (Bill) Thompson, 84, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully at his home December 10, 2011.
Born in Newark on July 7, 1927 as one of 10 children, Bill was the son of the late Louis and Mable Moore Thompson. He was a veteran of the Second World War and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked for 28 years at DuPont and was a member of the Loyal Order of Odd Fellows for over 50 years. He loved horses, farming, tractors and western movies. Bill was very talented with his hands and could build or fix almost anything. He always thought of others and was willing to help anyone in need.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Albright Thompson; a son, Glenn Thompson and his wife Joyce; step daughter Dee Joyce and her husband Jack; step sons, Emil Krautter, Jr. and his wife Peggy and John Michael Krautter; a sister Rebecca Thompson Hitchison; a half brother Louis Edward Thompson and his wife Cathy; and step grandchildren, Emil Louis Krautter, III and Joseph Krautter. He was preceded in death by his stepson Tracy Krautter.
A service honoring his life will be held at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A. (formerly Gee Funeral Home), 259 East Main St., Elkton, MD 21921 on Monday December 19, 2011 at 12 noon with a visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
