Charles Eugene Cox, “Gene”, age 85 passed away on April 22, 2016 in Elkton, MD. He was born on March 15, 1931 in Elkton, MD to the late, George Walker Cox and Virgie Ella (Ridinger) Cox.
Gene served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. After retiring from the U.S. Public Health Service at Perry Point, he then worked alongside of Reverend Moore at Church of Nazarene. A lifelong member of the church, he served on the church board as treasurer. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and especially family get togethers.
Gene is survived by his wife, Ruth L. Cox of Colora, MD; sons, Charles Edward Cox and companion, Tina Hensel of Port Deposit, and Michael Eugene Cox and companion, Theresa Miller of Colora, MD; grandson, Charles Evan Cox and fiancé, Amanda Racine; sister, Alyce J. Lovelace of Colora, MD; and brother, Jesse H. Cox and wife, Judy Cox of Rising Sun, MD; a sister-in-law, Judy F. Cox of Colora, MD; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, George Wayne Cox.
A Celebration of Gene’s life will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 11:00AM at the Church of Nazarene, 2626 Jacob Tome Memorial Highway, Colora, MD 21917. Family and friends are welcome to attend the visitation at the church beginning at 10:00AM. Burial will follow the service at West Nottingham Cemetery in Colora, MD.
