Caterina Rando of Rising Sun, MD, age 93, passed away Friday, December 14, 2018. She was born in Torre Faro, Sicily on November 14, 1925 to the late Giuseppe Curro’ and Agata (Ingegneri) Curro’.

Caterina enjoyed traveling to Italy and Venezuela. She was known for being one of the best at cooking Italian food. Caterina liked to watch soap operas, especially “The Days of Our Lives”. She would often have her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with her and would make sure that her red tomato cookie jar was always filled with goodies for them.

Caterina is survived by three children: Rosario Santo Rando and his wife, Lillian, Antonia (Nina) Fleck and her husband, Raymond Fleck, and Joseph Michael Rando and his wife, Regina Jugler Rando; eight grandchildren: Russell Santo Rando, Tracy Jean Fleck, Charles Robert Rando, Raymond Norman Fleck III, Catherina Antonia Rando, Geoffrey Carlo Rando, Gregory Michael Rando and Mathew Joseph Rando; and seven great-grandchildren: Vincent Charles Rando, Marcus Robert Rando, Michael Robert Rando, Anna Lillian Rando, Ari Jean Phipps, Leah Grace Felty, Tucker Fynn Rando, Lani Abe Rando, Benjamin Michael Felty, and Olivia Marie Felty.

In addition to her parents, Caterina was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Michael, her husband, Carlo Rando, and three siblings: Domenica, Santo and Domenico Curro’.

A visitation will be held from 6pm-8pm on Friday, December 21, 2018 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 150 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911. Burial will follow at Brookview Cemetery. A gathering of loved ones will occur after the burial with refreshments. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Caterina’s honor may be made payable to “Amedisys Hospice” and sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 248, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
