Betty Lou Lupfer (73) of Chesapeake City, MD passed away peacefully on May 25, 2022, surrounded by her loving family and close friends. Born in Copper Hill, VA on October 20, 1948, she was the daughter of the late John and Evie (nee, Stump), Wilson and the beloved wife of 43 years to the late Ronald Lupfer.
Betty retired from the Cecil County School System after a career in Food Service. After retiring, Betty could be found Tending Bar at the Chesapeake City VFW, Post 7687, where she was affectionately known as “MOMMA” by all her regulars. As a Life-Time-Member of the VFW Auxiliary, Betty poured her “Heart & Soul” into taking care of the needs of the Post and its members, whom she regarded as her “second family”.
Spending her summers in the sun on the beaches of Ocean City was one of her favorite pastimes. Betty loved to have fun. She enjoyed a good cocktail, spoiling her grandchildren and hosting lively, fun-filled parties on her deck for family and friends. She was a genuine, kind and caring person who was full of life. Betty will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Betty is survived by her two daughters: Tina Lupfer (Mike) and Angie Thompson (Wayne); four grandchildren: Ryan Craig (Alexis), Lauren Weber (Robby), Kyle Thompson (Tori) and Haley Thompson; four great-grandchildren: Makenzie, Luke, Rhett and Emmett.
A Celebration of Bettys Life will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 2:00 PM at VFW Post 7687 – 304 Basil Avenue, Chesapeake City, MD.
