Barbara (Perry) Cunningham, 55, of Elkton, MD, touched the hand of her Savior Jesus Christ and went home with Him on June 2, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Born in Philadelphia, PA on September 3, 1959, Barbara was the daughter of the late Francis J. and Eva E. Gorbsky Perry. Growing up in Philadelphia, (Feltonville), PA, she attended St. Ambrose Catholic School where she established and maintained many new friendships with the Berdels & Pease families. She made yet more friends, the Miller & Quinns, at Cardinal Dougherty High School. Barbara started a career in the commercial insurance industry at the Penn Mutual Towers in Philadelphia, and then transferred to New Jersey, while she pursued a degree as an underwriter. In 1983 she married her sweetheart and started their family in 1989. A decision was made in 1992 after the birth of their 2nd child that Barbara would be a stay at home Mom, while volunteering as a math teacher at Heritage Christian Academy. Barbara also became the neighborhood mom in Sherwood Park who always found time to make snacks and play kick the bucket with not only her children, but the Zaldivars and Muellers. And after the birth of their 3rd child Barbara started a new career at the Elkton Library where she has shared her beautiful smile for the last 10 years. Barbara will always be remembered as a long time fan of Vince’s Pizza, for going into an ice cream shop of a 101 flavors, but always asking for chocolate, with chocolate jimmies. Hanging out at the jersey shore (Stone Harbor) but only going into the water up to her knee’s, playing pinochle with her brother’s & sister’s at C 7, family gatherings throughout the year. Barbara never judged others, never desired material things, put everyone first before herself, always forgave and loved everyone with an unconditional love. But first and foremost, Barbara was a family person, with an amazing love and passion for her husband, her children, as well as her extended family and many friends. Barbara will be dearly missed.
