Robert T. Foard, Jr.

Funeral Director

Bob Foard has lived in the Chesapeake City area his entire life. He is a graduate of Bohemia Manor High School in Chesapeake City, the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, and Towson State University in Baltimore.

A licensed funeral director since 1975, he is a past President of the Maryland State Board of Morticians, and a member of both the Maryland and Delaware Funeral Directors Associations. He is also a member of the Monument Builders Association of North America and the Cremation Association of North America (CANA).

Known for his active commitment to the surrounding communities, Bob has also served as President of the Rising Sun Lions Club and the Rising Sun Business Association, President of Newark Morning Rotary, President of Newark Senior Center Board of Directors, a member of Cecil County Chamber of Commerce, and Master Counselor of the De Molay Lodge in Elkton.

Bob and his wife, Patti, have two children – Whitney Montana and Madison Taylor.

Louis is a graduate of Grove City College in Grove City, Pennsylvania, with a BA degree in political science and business administration. He brings his 20 years of customer service experience to R.T Foard, and is involved in all aspects of funeral service. He completed his Cremation Certification through CANA, and graduated from Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in January of 2006. In addition to his duties as a licensed funeral director, Lou is responsible for the administration of our on-site crematory.

Lou lives in New Castle, DE and is married with two children.

Sarah M. Frey

Sarah was born and raised in Sherman, NY, a small farming community in the Great Lakes region. She received her Associates degree in Graphic Design, graduating with honors from Briarcliffe College. Sarah continued on to obtain her B.A. in Anthropology and Religious Studies, graduating summa cum laude from the University of Albany.

Despite her passion for academia, Sarah decided family and community ties along with the needs of the greater public were of the highest importance. Her enthusiasm to serve is what led her to funeral services. She received her Mortuary Science degree in the spring of 2013 from the Community College of Baltimore County. Sarah is a licensed Funeral Director in the states of Maryland and Delaware.

Whitney Foard

Whitney M. Foard is from North East, Maryland and is the oldest daughter of Robert and Patti Foard. She graduated from Rising Sun High School in 2011 and Loyola University Maryland in 2015 where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management. Whitney graduated Cum Laude with her Mortuary Science Degree from The Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) in May of 2017.

She studied abroad in Cork, Ireland for a full semester where she was able to travel to many countries throughout Europe. This gave her the opportunity to experience many unique cultures as well as the ability to learn about different lifestyles and customs.

Whitney has been working for R.T Foard Funeral Home since 2012. She is a licensed Funeral Director in the state of Maryland and is currently serving her Apprenticeship to become a licensed Funeral Director in the state of Delaware.

In her spare time, Whitney enjoys traveling, reading, hunting, and spending time with her family, friends, and beloved dogs.

Amanda Mark

Amanda Mark graduated from Perryville High School in 1998. She has since attended Cecil College, Del Tech Community College, and graduated from the Pittsburg Institute of Mortuary Science in 2016. Amanda is a licensed Funeral Director in the states of Maryland and Delaware. Amanda currently lives in Bear, Delaware with her husband and pets. She enjoys spending time with family and friends as well as reading.

Lance T. Frati

Lance T. Frati is a lifetime resident of Newark, DE. He attended St. Mark’s High School, graduating in 2012. In pursuit of his interest in the funeral profession, Lance went on to attend Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, PA and graduated with an A.S. in Funeral Service Education. He was also the president of the Sigma Phi Sigma, funeral service club. Lance is a licensed Funeral Director in the states of Delaware and Maryland, as well as a certified Crematory Operator with the Cremation Association of North America. Lance enjoys meeting new people, spending time in Ocean City, MD during the summer and snowboarding in the winter. If you see Lance and ask him how it is going, his response will be along the lines of, “just living the dream.”

Scott Bowler

Scott was born and raised in the state of California. He most recently resided in Snowflake, Arizona, where he worked as a licensed Funeral Director. Before entering the funeral profession, he worked as a cabinet maker and general contractor. “After my mother passed away after a long battle to cancer, I realized that funeral directing was something I wished to pursue. The fact that in her final hours, she was surrounded by those she loved, impacted me deeply and I knew that I wanted to help others during such a difficult time. Serving families is a calling that gives me tremendous satisfaction,” says Scott.

Scott has an Associate’s Degree in Mortuary Science from Mesa Community College where he graduated with honors. He and his wife, Amy, have been married for 25 years. They are the proud parents of five sons and have three daughters-in-law and three grandchildren who are the lights of their lives. Scott has been involved in the Boy Scouts of America for over 30 years and is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for whom he served a two-year mission.

Scott is a licensed Funeral Director in Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. His role as an Advanced Funeral Planner will provide individuals with peace of mind by enabling them to make personal decisions about how they wish their final arrangements to occur. “Knowing that your decisions will ease the burden on your loved ones after you pass away is a tremendous gift,” says Scott. “I am pleased to be able to assist them in this process.”

Diana M. Russell

Diana M. Russell is a 1984 graduate from Aberdeen High School in Aberdeen, MD. She carries Maryland and Delaware insurance licenses in both Property & Casualty Insurance and Life & Health Insurance. Her career in funeral service began in June of 2004. Some of her community activities include being a member of the Greater Rising Sun Chamber of Commerce, also having served on the Board of Directors for the Greater Rising Sun Chamber of Commerce. She was also chairperson of the Sunfest Festival in 2004 and 2005 in Rising Sun. She is also an active participate in the Cecil County Chamber of Commerce for R. T. Foard Funeral Home.

Diana and her husband, Rusty, live on their family farm named The Double R Farm where they raise Registered Quarter Horses and Paint Horses. Together they have four daughters, Colleen, Sara, Julie, Rachel and several grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with her family, raising & showing Western Pleasure Horses and traveling.

Jeff Kennard

Jeff was born and raised in Newark and is a graduate of Newark High School. Following high school, he enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps. He then went to work for the federal government as a firefighter and paramedic. After retiring from government service, he was a representative for Snap-On Tools; also at the time, he was working with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner as a forensic investigator for Cecil County.

Jeff is a certified Crematory Operator with Cremation Association of North America and is also involved in transfers and other needs in the day-to-day operation of the funeral home.

Jeff is active in the Community Fire Company of Rising Sun where he is a life member and is a member of the Mason Dixon American Legion Post 194. Jeff has two children, Meghan and Jeffrey, Jr. and enjoys taking them boating on the Chesapeake Bay.

Jason Rush

Jason Rush graduated from North East High School in 2000. He later went on to attend James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA where he obtained his B.S. in Social Science. Jason is currently working to obtain a degree in Mortuary Science from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. He also works as a family memorial consultant for R.T. Foard Memorial Company designing granite and bronze monuments for the tri state area. When Jason is not working, he likes to visit his log home in Alderson, WV to go fishing, hunting, and four wheeling.

Taylor Thomas

Taylor is a 2013 graduate of Rising Sun High School and lifetime resident of Elkton, MD. She attended Cecil College, where she was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and graduated with an A.S. in Biology in the spring of 2016. Taylor is currently attending Towson University to further her education in the biological science field. Her career in funeral service began in January of 2014. Her hobbies include baking and adventuring outdoors with her dog, Blake.

Melissa Boris

Melissa Boris was born and raised in the suburbs of Washington, DC. She attended University of Maryland for two years before starting her a career in Human Resources. She worked for several different companies performing interviews, placements, sales and marketing before leaving the workforce to raise her two children. During that time she volunteered yearly at her children’s elementary school. Her career in funeral service began in April of 2015. She is a member of Way of Life Church.

Melissa enjoys gardening, hiking, camping and spending time with her children.

Mary Konwinski

Mary Konwinski recently retired from the Blood Bank of Delmarva where she was Manager of Community Relations. An employee for 29 years, Mary oversaw all communications including BBD’s website and social media. She was the chief speech writer for the executive team and the board, and editor of BBD publications. She also was responsible for grant writing, direct mail and other fundraising efforts. Mary directed BBD special events including its 60th Anniversary Celebration in 2014. She is a freelance writer and consultant and recently launched her new business, MGK Writing Solutions, which provides assistance with written communications, copy editing, and public relations.

Mary is a graduate of Ursuline Academy (DE) and Manhattanville College (NY). She is a past president of Newark Morning Rotary Club and previously served on its Board. She lives in Newark, DE.

Jesse Cox

Jesse is a graduate of Rising Sun High School and spent four years in the U.S. Airforce. He worked for Nationwide Insurance Company for 33 years. Jesse has been a part-time funeral assistant for R. T Foard since 2003. He is a member of the Elk Lodge No. 1564, the American Legion Post 194, and a member of Freedom Church. Jesse has been happily married to his wife Judy since 1961.

Eric Cannon

Eric is a Delaware native and has resided in Newark since 1978. He is an active charter member and past president for the Morning Newark Rotary Club. Prior to joining R.T.Foard, Eric worked in the field of Emergency Medicine for twenty-five years, retiring from New Castle County Emergency Medical Services in 1998. After retirement, he worked for a short time in the insurance industry before joining an auto dealership and selling automobiles for seven years. He is now a part-time funeral assistant, assisting families in all aspects of the funeral service.

Eric is married to Dr. Christine Cannon, a retired nursing professor at the University of Delaware who now works as a consultant with the Delaware Community Foundation. They have three children and two grandchildren.

Eric emphasizes his purpose to help eliminate stress for the families whenever possible during these most difficult times.

Ronald P. Reese, Sr.

Funeral Assistant

Ron is a 1964 graduate of Rising Sun High School. Formerly UAW Health and Safety Representative for Chrysler LLC in Newark, DE, he retired in June of 2000 after 35 years of service.

Ron’s accomplishments include earning a private pilot license and his Maryland Real Estate License, and receiving a Health and Safety Specialist Certification from Ferris State University in Detroit, MI and a CETP Certification for Propane Delivery. Ron also graduated and acquired a license from the Central School of Beauty in Wilmington, DE in the mid 1960’s.

Ron married his wife Linda in 1968. Together they have two children and one grandson and currently reside in Rising Sun.

G. Edward Ginder

G. Edward Ginder, born and raised in Lancaster County, PA and moved to Cecil County to start his career on leaving Elizabethtown College, where he majored in Business Administration.  Ed was and has been actively involved in volunteer work in Elkton and Cecil County.  He served as vice president and past board member of the YMCA of Cecil County, past board member and volunteer for 28 years with the Cecil County Special Olympics.  He was honored as being named “Volunteer of the Year” by the organization in 1988.  He also co-chaired the Elkton Bicentennial Committee, was elected as Town Commissioner for Elkton, and chaired the Administrative Board for the Elkton United Methodist Church.  Ed has also coached numerous youth and adult sports teams.

Jeff Clewer

Funeral Assistant

Prior to joining R. T. Foard Funeral Home, Jeff Clewer retired from the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office as Director of Corrections. During his professional career he actively participated in various local and state associations and committees. He also has volunteered as a mentor and coach for Cecil County Special Olympics and currently serves as Vice President on the Board of Directors of Haven House, a drug and alcohol treatment program located in Elkton, Md. When time permits, Jeff enjoys golfing and spending time at the shore with his wife Stephanie.....he always finds time for a cup of dark roast coffee early in the morning to start his day.

Dennis Cataldi

Funeral Assistant

Dennis was born and raised in Newark, Delaware and is a graduate of Newark High School. Dennis is a life member of Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder Co. Newark, Delaware, with forty one years in the fire service. He has two children Dominic and Jennifer. Dennis has recently retired as an industrial maintenance technician and millwright. In his spare time, he plays music. He is an accomplished drummer and also plays the guitar.

Paul Bodie

Funeral Assistant

Paul is a graduate of Elkton High School class of 1972 and has been a Cecil County resident for more than 60 years. Upon graduating, he worked 15 years for the Amtrak railroad before starting his own insurance agency in White Marsh. After representing Erie Insurance for more than 15 years he decided to retire.

Paul married to his wife, Denise, in 1978 and together they have raised two children, Matt and Erin. In his spare time he enjoys boating and spending time with his granddaughter. Paul resides in the community of Elkmore where he serves on the board of both the Home Improvement Association and the Community Pier Association.

Ben Adams

Ben is a Delaware native currently serving as a Firefighter/EMT with Aetna Hose Hook & Ladder Co. of Newark, Delaware. He has served with Aetna for over 10 years, and has previously held the positions of Assistant Chief, Engine Captain, and Rescue Captain. Outside of work, Ben enjoys hiking, fishing and camping (especially when the weather's uncooperative), sampling craft beers, and spending time on various hobbies such as building and fixing electronics, collecting model trains, and scanning the classifieds for classic cars he can't afford. Most of all though Ben enjoys spending time with his three children: daughters Lily and Sophia, and son Skyler.

John Gainey

John is a graduate of Bel Air High School, class of 1972. After graduation, he entered the United States Marine Corps where he served our country proudly until he was honorably discharged in 1976. John went on to enter the Maryland State Police Academy in 1977 and began working with MSP after his graduation. He was a helicopter pilot, maintaining the highest helicopter rating of Airline Transport Pilot, and transported over 6000 patients throughout his career before retiring in November of 2015. John also attended Catonsville Community College for two years to study Criminal Law. John has been happily married for 34 years to his wife, Leuretha J. Gainey, and together they have five grown children and four grandchildren.

Larry Thompson

Larry is a 1967 graduate of Claymont High School in Claymont, DE and has lived in the tristate area for over 40 years. After graduation, he proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy until 1971. He then went back to school and studied Theatre and Business at the University of Delaware, graduating cum laude in 1975.

Larry has been a very successful businessman in the states of Florida, Delaware, and Maryland. In Florida he built, owned, and operated multiple liquor stores. In Delaware, he was a member of the Chamber of Commerce from 1993 to 1998, was the Chairman of the Retail Committee, went to Washington, D.C. as a delegate to President Clinton’s “White House Conference on Small Business,” and created Delaware’s issue, “Government Accountability,” which was adopted by both the state and the federal government. In Maryland, Larry helped own and operate the Pinder Insurance Agency for over 10 years.

Larry is happily married to his wife, Amy, and together they have two children and five grandchildren.

Ronda Janneyi

Ronda Janney was born and raised in New Castle, DE. After graduating from William Penn High School, she was employed as a credit analyst. In 1989, Ronda married and moved to Cecil County, and soon after she became a mom. She was blessed to be able to spend many wonderful years at home raising her three children.

In 2011, Ronda became certified in personal training and has continued her love of running, exercising and helping others in their personal fitness journeys. She enjoys running marathons, loves to read, and is an active member of Stones Throw Church in Middletown, DE.

Ronda and her husband, Barry, love spending time with their family. They currently have two grandchildren and are expecting a third in July of 2018.
